Cold Hard Mukpuddy!
We got mentioned at Cold Hard Flash. Cheers Aaron, that's awesome!! Go check out the article, which mainly focuses on the Xmas idents we did for NZ's C4 music television.
We are happy boys..... so happy in fact that we all went out and grew matching facial hair, which we call "The Aint-it-cool". (As you can see, Alex is the more free spirited one of the group. Bloody hippy!)

Le Papillion
Our friend Gerrard just sent us a link to an animated short called Le Papillon (which, I think, means 'The Butterfly'), and we just had to share it!!
It's too cool for words.
I wish a major studio would have enough balls to greenlight a movie in this sort of style. But then again..would the people go. Me thinks it might just be us in the audience. Damn the mainstream.

X3
Hey folks,
Ryan here.
Just checked out the teaser trailer for X Men 3. I wasn't going to say anything about it until I saw a whole bunch of people bitching about it in talkbacks. I loved it....man, there's no pleasing some people. It always surprises me when something so obviously cool looking is so widely panned by internet folk.
It's so weird how people can't seem to understand that an animated or illustrated character is never going to translate 100% into a live action film. I know that there's alot of die hard comic book fans out there who want to see the Beast and the Juggernaut they know an love come to life, but it just aint happening. Some things just dont translate well. For the X Men films in particular, they've always tried to keep the series as much in the real world as possible, and I think the new characters fit in nicely. Stop moaning, hold all judgement till the film comes out, then if it truely does suck ass, then I'll join you in bagging it. So far.....looks cool!

New Stuff
Yo, Alex here, though I'd make my first post with some images of what we've been up to lately. As Tim posted eariler we did some titles for a music channel here in NZ called C4. The name of the show is "6 Degrees of Seperation" so our idea was to do sort of an evolution of music!
We also just recently finished a skitfor a local band called Pluto that, we hope will air soon on the same channel, but heres a screen shot!!!

Updates of Mukpuddy's latest.
'Morning monkeys.
Just a quick update on what Mukpuddy's been up to.
We've just completed some titles for C4 here in NZ, for the show '6 Degrees of Separation', which is now airing on wednesdays or saturdays or something (not too sure actually) but any way here's a delicious screenshot.
And we've also just completed a skit for the kiwi band, Pluto. Which will hopefully be playing on C4 and online sometime soon. I believe they'll air it when they start playing the video for thier next single, Baby Cruel, which we also made. I'd show you a screenshot of them too, but the puter is being stupid. So maybe next time.
Farts and whistles,
Mr Tim

Mukpuddy production slate
Hey folks, thought we'd give you a quick low-down on what we working on at the mo.
We're still working on a Childrens book for Ashton scholastic, which should hopefully be all done in the next month or so and we have just started some Christmas skits/idents for C4 (NZ Music Channel). As soon as we've finished them we'll post up a link for you guys to check them out, or alternatively, if you live in NZ, check them out on C4 in the next few weeks .
We' have also just recently wrapped production on some stuff for Maori TV, some new titles for C4's "Six Degrees of Seperation" as well as a music video and some promo work for NZ band "Pluto".
Next we have lined up some more ident/skit work for C4, a possibly TV pilot, some design work for a yet to be announced web cartoon, and if all goes well, our own children's book. So yeah, we gonna be busy! Oh yeh, and if all goes well, we may have a nice big announcement to make, but that's for another post.
Cheers

I've just been Hoodwinked!
Hey folks, Ryan here.
I'm gonna take the honors of making the first official "vent" post, and it's gonna be a moan!! Sorry. I've just witnessed a crime....a heinous crime! Now that CGI is the hip new thing in animated features, later this year we are going to be blessed with a brand new film called Hoodwinked.
Ok, if you have QuickTime, go have a look at this.....
http://www.apple.com/trailers/weinstein/hoodwinked/trailer/
I apologies for doing that to you, but It had to be done.
First you'll notice that they took a lot of time creating original and wicked looking designs for each of the characters....hang on.....that's right.....They skipped that bit!! Every single one of the characters looks like the were created directly in 3Ds max without a single thought put into style.
Secondly you'll notice how hilariously original the story is.....no wait, they skipped that bit too!! I'm pretty sure Shrek (don't get me started on that franchise) already did they whole "we're taking the piss out of fairy tales" thing. Plus I know some pretty smart 4 year olds who are already writing similar stories.
Thirdly, you'll notice they forgot to animate the whole thing. Last time I checked, sliding your characters around and flicking through 4 different pre-set mouth shapes isn't animation.
Do not go see this film. Don't let the "big name" celebrity voice cast snag you, this is a cheap badly made film that doesn't deserve you're money!!
So this is what all those talented 2D animators lost their jobs for. I feel like crying!
Thankgod we have Barnyard, Ant Bully, Shrek 3, Puss 'n' Boots, and lots more to look forward to. Let the bad times roll.

Hey Everyone.
Cheers for taking the time to check out our new blog. The three of us will constantly post up our two cents on all matters of things, but mostly all things animation.
We've been running Mukpuddy Animation (www.mukpuddy.com) for about 4 years now. We're a small 2D animation studio in New Zealand who create music vids, TV adverts, web cartoons, comics, kids books and lots more. Each of us did 3 years classical animation training and a little bit of CGI, but our heart lies with 2D. (Yeah, so that means you'll most likely hear us piss and moan about bad CGI quite a bit).
Cheers
Ryan, Tim and Alex
